Emerson Auction Photos
For the school auction, Coco's class undertook a photo essay of the Park Blocks in NW Portland. Below are a few of the photos that the class selected to display (and sell) during the Emerson School Auction. Click forward to Flickr to enjoy the rest. If you'd like to bid on one, let me know and I can be your proxy at the auction.

Emerson School End-of-Year Picnic (May 07)
2:2 (Second Day of Second Grade)
Coco informed me that this is a special day--the second day of second grade. In the rebellious spirit of grammar school, I'm opting out of posting our summer pics chronologically so you can see Coco in all of her Second Grade glory.
Actual photo (unretouched--wow!) of Coco's Second day of Second Grade. Coco didn't grant permission for me to snap this shot, so I had to do it surreptitiously. Maybe she'll forgive me when she finds out. Anyway, this will be Coco's classroom for the next two years (combined 2nd-3rd grade class) and she's very happy to be reunited with some of her friends from her kindergarten year, including Claire, Adia, Kayleigh, and Rory. Teacher Allegra seems very nice and Coco is looking forward to her focus on mathematics. Although Coco and her bestest buddy Monica are in different classrooms this year, they'll still hang out during recess and carpool and any time in between they can get! Here's wishing Coco a safe, fun, productive Second Grade!
This is actually the first day of school.
Gertie has been trying to get in the car every time we open the door. Maybe she's decided she wants a dog's life (who doesn't). I think she'd go off to school with Coco if we'd let her.

The Levine-Salmon Wedding at Netarts
I spent some time in July with my friend Phoebe (pictured here) while her dad, Daniel, married her mom, Sam, to Mike. Confusing, I know, but really fun. The ceremony was at Happy Camp in Netarts, Oregon. My mom brought the peach blueberry cobbler and we all had a blast

Where the Wild Things Are
I was one of three narrators in this play. Rory played Max--the real wild thing in this play. You can see me down in the lower right hand side of this photo. I read my part so well and my vocal projection was so robust that people told me I should narrate more often.
First Grade Graduation
Here I am with some kids from my first grade class and our Teacher, Ariel Aver. That was my last year in the K-1 class. This year, I'll be in the 2-3 class.
Field Trip to Tryon Creek State Park
Big Beaver Teeth--kinda scary but kinda cool, too

All About Music
I just finished a very exciting project in my class about music. We learned about different kinds of music and instruments and we visited the symphony, Apple Music, Rhythm Traders, and even wrote and recorded our own song (with the help of my teacher Ariel's dad). You can listen to our song below. It's called "Music".
Music-Original Com... |
We also put on a spring concert of all the songs we learned during the music project.
A close up of me. Next to me is my line buddy, Isabelle. We had a play date recently that was really pretty fun.

Coastin' through Winter
I went to the coast this weekend with my good friend Phoebe and her family and their friends. There were nine kids there (including me) and I was one of the oldest. It has been nice in Portland but it was even more beautiful at the Oregon Coast. My favorite part about this trip was exploring along the beach and seeing a dead jellyfish, seeing otters in the ocean (alive, thank goodness), and finding a secret cave.
Here are some pictures that Phoebe's mom, Sam, sent my mom. This is us in the kids' apartment. We went to bed so late!
This is my friend Phoebe.
Here's Sam reading to us.

Only 364 days 'till my birthday...
This year for my birthday, the theme was Roller Derby!
Kate's sister, Nina, shows off the latest in Roller Derby style, here at the Mt. Scott Community Center skating rink. We had so much fun skating!
Then, we went across the street to our restaurant for food and a big surprise. My cakes were chocolate and raspberry cheesecakes. We also had mini gummy burgers, sparkling apple grape juice, macaroni & cheese, and hot dogs. But I decided I don't like Otto's hot dogs anymore--they're too spicy.
The surprise was Toby Patella, the clown you see here balancing one of our very heavy restaurant chairs on his chin. He also juggled, and made jokes, and blew up balloon animals for us. He was cool and funny.
Even Baby Gage went roller derby with one of the party favors from the fancy gift bags I decorated--his skater wristband! I guess Gage is cool and funny, too.
Christmas Morning 2006
This is me on Christmas morning. My new robe says,"Hot Coco[a]" on it. It's true because when I wear it I really am hotter. Santa came to my house and also to Ariel's and Sammy's.
This is me opening presents with my dad. I really love my new suede vest with fur inside. It makes me "Hot Coco," too.
My Gramma Weezie came to visit me. She took me to see the Moscow Ballet perform Cinderella at the Schnitz. My favorite part was the seasons because I liked their costumes. She also came to my birthday party.
Thanks for friends, and family, and bread
We spent Thanksgiving with the DeVols this year. Emily was there and so was Uncle Jesse. Josh and Jen visited us from L.A., too and we had fun.
This is the challah bread I made.
And crazy "Uncle" Josh with my Dad.
